Hi! I have just bought the Onkyo TX-NR3007 receiver to drive my 5.1 Kef xq speaker setup. The speakers have an impedans from 8 Ohm down to 3.2 Ohm and i just read on Onkyos FAQs that their receivers are not recommended for speakers under 6 Ohm. But then again im sure ive read that THX ultra2 plus certified receivers are supposed to drive 3.2 Ohm speakers at reference levels. Im hoping someone can help me with this question as i really dont want to damage my speakers or receiver.

Thanks

Thanks for the quick reply! :) But why does Onkyo put this on their site;

"due to CE configuration regulations, we can only guarantee safe use with minimum 6-ohm speakers. However, many speakers operate at 4 ohms, and some even drop below 4 ohms at certain frequencies. In certain circumstances, both speakers and amplifier could be seriously damaged or even destroyed."

Yes, but the KEFs are 8ohm nominal impedance, only potentially dropping to 3.2ohms at certain frequencies, and then only momentarily. They won't create any problems with the Onkyo - the warning is mainly there to avoid the use of speakers with a much lower nominal impedance, which can drop even lower.

If there were likely to be any problem, I wouldn't have responded as I did in my original reply above.
