I need advice, Quad 11L speakers need replacing because one of the woofers has ruptured. I have no idea how this happened but they need replacing. Read many great things about the KEF R100 but I cannot get to listen to them prior to purchase and I need help. Will the KEFs work ok with the Rotel RA10? I cannot spend more than £600, are there other great bookshelf speakers that will work well with this amp?

Any advice or thoughts on this issue recieved gratefully.

I daresay they will go very well - but wether you like the sound of KEF is another matter!

I think you will be on the safe side though!

Steve, many thanks for the speedy reply. I'm left wondering what to read in to your comment about whether I will like the sound of the KEF R100. I've read rave reviews about them but never actually heard a pair myself. Is there something more I should know? Are they unusual in some way?

Any further coments invited.

Also try the Q Acoustics Concept 20. Fantastic speakers. ;)

Hi there, welcome to the forum!

I own and highly rate the Kef R100s and find them very revealing and engaging. They produce an unrivaled soundstage thanks to their trick tweeter and the depth and quality of bass belies their size. They sounded great on the end of a very old Nad amp I owned, are brilliant with my current Arcam amp as well as the A19.

Placed on sturdy stands they produce a great sound - I actualy preferred them to the current LS50s which everyone raves about!

Have you spoken to IAG about getting a new drive unit? I'd have thought that would be a) perfectly possible and b) not that expensive. Even if you have set your heart on new speakers, you'd at least be able to sell the Quads on if they were functioning.

Contact details here.

I can also vouch for the r100s, i run mine with an arcam a19 and love the sound quality and the clarity really is something else.
