Am considering the above to be paired with my Pioneer 500A, and new AV receiver yet to be decided, altho a preference to keep it Pioneer for the Kuro Link & remote heaven, was considering either the new 1019ah, once i've heard it and read some reviews or the SC LX71.

Would like some feed back on tha above receivers & speakers.

Cheers

Hello,

I demod both the MT-30 and the 5005.2.

I found that the 5005s had plenty of detail to the sound, but in terms of musicality they weren't that great, a lot beingd down to the sub I think, which was too imprecise.

The MT-30 was OK, but the detail didn't seem as quite as good as the 5005's, and they seemed to struggle a bit more at high frequencies. Things sounded deader in films, and for music it sounded strained at the tope end with some material.

Pairing the PV1 sub with the 5005 satellites improved things, and it was quite a good setup, (and better than the MT-30), with good detail and decent musicality.

However, the Tannoy Arena was better for me, having all the detail, precision, and musicality I wanted.

Hope this helps.

Hello,

I demod and have got the full Arena package, (now comes with the TS300 subwoofer from the Arena Highline 300).

My amplifier is a Marantz SR6001. I got this as it was on offer at about half price, I liked the sound, and I'd had Marantz stereo amps previously. I had been set to look for something at about the £1000 mark, but the saving was good, and reviews said it was very close to the SR7001 that was about £900.

I'm very happy with the sound of the Marantz / Tannoy combination. I have also heard the Arena with a Denon, (can't remember which but one approaching the £1000 mark), and that was also good. I haven't heard the Pioneer receivers.

I think you could get a very good sound at a cheaper budget than you are considering, but I don't necessarily think you are over-doing it - the shop where I bought the Arena said they get people running them with amps costing thousands, and at much more than their rated power.

Might be worth giving some Marantz receivers a demo as well; another thread on here reckons even the SR6003 will give the Onkyo 876 / 906 and Yamaha RXV1900 a run for their money.

Hope this has been of some help.

Hi,

I agree with kinda reference the kef's sub - when I ran 5005's I found the sub way to slow (then ran with REL Quake and sounded v.good)

I upgraded recently and -

The Arena package was impressive but ultimately I went for the MA set up below - very very happy all round

Replaced Pioneer AX5i with SC LX71 and it's a great amp , i had Miller Kreisel K7 to upgrade and had the MA Radius HD on my short list along with Miller Kreisel M7 , after much consultation i went with the MK but i did already have MK so it was always going to be harder for the MA to win out. Anyway i would suggest you at least check out the MK M series they are fantastic with the SC LX71 with both movies and music. I went to three specialist outfits and each one gave a different choice they were the MA radius HD , Focal lab sib & cub and the MK M7. I did ask about Kef's and the B&W MT but was told i had out grown that level with the MK K series. Two of the specialist didn't stock MK on site and they suggested the MA's and FL's however the one specialist that stocked both the MA and the MK recommended the MK over the MA and the FL's.
