Hearing it on Spotify, and I don't know if this will be representative of the remixed CD, but Sean Lennon seems to have turned up the bass and compressed the living $h1t out of it.

What's up with these entitled millionaire kids who think they know better than everybody else? Apparently Harrison junior did the same with All Things Must pass.

These are remixed & mastered by the best engineers in the business.

When you hear an initial mix, you’ll be asking to make certain stems louder or quieter. Once you get to mastering, there’s v little you can do beyond ‘more bass/mids/treble’. Mastering is a processs of compression. Unless these people are screaming “MAKE IT ALL MORE PUNCHY! MORE PUNCHY DAMNIT!!!” I’d imagine they’re being given a cursory opinion at various points in process that have little impact vs the vision of the oroducer who actually oversees the work. Ok’d by the family is likely for rights permissions &/or marketing purposes.

Both Sean and Dhani were quoted as mastering for 'modern audiences'. Just listen to Mind Games and compare it to the 2010 version still available on Spotify. It's loud to the point of almost being obnoxious.

I don't care an iota if the best engineers were used.

Sean had a direct hand in the mastering and mixing - one of the songs had a saxophone part at the end removed.
