Is the Sanyo PLV-Z700 going to blow up?

Hi,

I'm looking at the Sanyo PLV-Z700 projector to put ontop of a bookshelf in my living room. I took a look at the manual online and was concerned that it recommends at a minimum a 30cm gap between the back of the projector and the wall. The Sanyo itself has a 35 cm depth which was just about going to fit on the top of the bookcase.

Should I just start looking at smaller projectors? (any recommendations for a similar spec/price, horizontal & vertical lens shift a must) Or as long as it's not boxed in from above then would the Sanyo be fine?

Thanks,

Neil

I have the PLV-Z700. Mains and video cables go behind the projector so you may need some space there. Mine is about 10cm from the back wall yet the cables are not excessively bent. The projector does get hot especially on full lamp power mode. The critical area would be the right-side of the projector (looking from back) where the two blowers are. So if the projector goes on top of the bookshelf and not boxed in it should be fine.
