Hey everyone,

I collect my new Tannoy Eyris speaker package in January and i'm looking to udgrade my receiver before then. I've just looked at the Harmon Kardon AVR 255. It looks great, and sounded good powering the 'style' speakers in the store.

However, i've just seen it has just 50 watts per channel. The Tannoys have big, 3 way floorstanders as their fronts. Although the Tannoy website says they will run with an amp betwwen 20-150 watts RMS, is the H-K gonna have the guts to run the speakers to their optimum?

All help appreciated.

The December issue of WHF had the 255 in a round up 7 amps & it came last apparantly down to it's overall sound quality.

It may be worth you picking this issue up, as the Yamaha's & Sony2400ES kicked it butt.

Thanks for your comments.

I've decided to go for the PIONEER VSX-1018AH. It's not a looker, like the H-K, but it has bundles of power (110 p/c) and a detailed sound (and a blue standby light. I'm a sucker for those!)
