Is the best 11.2 receiver on a budget?

Hi I have been holding out for a 11.2 receiver for over 2 years now. In that time a lot of standards have developed in the AV world.
Recently saw the below advertised.
It is a 9.2 but I have a spare stereo amp that I could hook up to get 7.1.4.
Question is, is this future proofed given the aforementioned rate of change and also are there any other 11.2 capable receivers under a grand out there??

and if I had £950 on me, I'll probably be straight round to Richer Sounds.

One thing you need to remember is that there will always be some new tech around the corner so no product is ever futureproof.

Good point. So is it covered for any tech specs out this year?
To be specific, can it cope with all UHD Blu Ray demands?

but I'm at work. *secret*

Here is a link which should provide all the info you need.

https://www.denon.co.uk/uk/product/homecinema/avreceiver/avrx4300hv2

in answer to your question to me it looks like the answer is yes.

If you can still get one at knock down prices, the Marantz 7010 is a steal.

So it's Denon sibling with HEOS should be fantastic.

Both the Marantz and the Denon are 9.2 internally, but decodes 11.2 so adding a stereo integrated for your front left and right would be the way to go. It also means you'll have a "proper stereo" amp for CDs etc.

Future proofing? Most of the higher end, i.e. 9.2 and up, models from 2016 on are fully HDR, 4K, Atmos, etc. enabled, and at least DTS:X "capable with firmware update". Whether ANY receiver on the market will deal with the next "latest and greatest" is anyone's guess. Manufacturers, after all, have vested interested in selling us yet another new receiver, TV, etc.....

Looks like the newer 7011 is "only" £250 more. Not sure what is newer about the new model. Guess I need to do research. Would definitely favour the Marantz as it would pair up nicely with champagne silver Marantz stereo amp I have from years back.
Thanks.
P.S. the newer model comes with a HEOS speaker which helps offset the cost.

The cheapest 11.2 channel AV receiver (without needing an external amplifier) is the Denon AVR-X6300H which is £1649.
Thanks, but that extra money could be put towards the ceiling speakers. If I could get a 11.2 channel receiver for a grand or even 1200 I would jump at it but cannot justify extra cost as I have a stereo amp going spare that will give me 11.2 that I desire.

I am seriously tempted too! Will wait until the 2017 replacement is announced, hopefully will be £1200 by then!
When do you think that will be?

i have the 6200 and it's fantastic upgrade to my x4100... a lot of kit for hot money, although I would say it will be nearly the same as a marantz, if not identical..?

I'm looking for a one box solution. I currently have the Marantz AVR and stereo amplifier to drive my 11.1 speakers.

Marantz 7010 + stereo amp, Marantz 6011 + stereo amp, or Marantz 7011 with no stereo amp needed.

Denon equivalents will work, sound pretty much the same, do the same features wise, but cost more.

Onkyo seems to be confined to the budget end these days, with its stablemate Pioneer pitched at the higher end.

Gel has just bought a Yamaha 3060. A 3050 or 3060 should also do what you want.

Personally I prefer the Marantz's LACK OF distracting display information when sitting in a darkened room. I was told last year that Marantz units deliver better music performance than the others. But that's all in the ear of the beholder.

Unfortunately, the Marantz 7011 only does 9 channels so would require an external amp.

Thought you said you had a spare amp for the fronts, and I must have had a brain f#rt yesterday, but anyway, if you dont want to use a second amp, I think your choices are the Onkyo 3030, Yamaha 3060 Denon 6300 or Pioneer 901. None of which are cheap.

I did. But then the 11.2 Denon AVR-6300H came on special offer. In the end, I purchased it along with a Denon HEOS chucked in for an amazing £1415.

Will arrive Wednesday. I have also ordered wee diddy speakers for the ceiling and a sub. See the otehr thread about ceiling speakers.

My Onkyo will be 10 in May. Time to retire it and relegate it to secondary duties. It's still a beauty.

Yamaha RX-A3060 is 9 channel, not 11.

Yamaha RX-A3060 is 9 channel, not 11.

Note to self: stop relying on Amazon descriptions. I thought it was 11.
Sorry

Yes, I see that the Denon AVR-X6300H is now £1399 at Peter Tyson, Audible Fidelity, Nottingham Hi-Fi Centre ... sometimes with adding the HEOS 1 speaker for only a further £50. That's one of two pieces of good news

The second piece of good news is that TheMovieRooms in Edinburgh has an ex-demonstration unit for only £1199, here http://www.themovierooms.co.uk/used-graded-ex-demo/denon-avr-x6300h-ex-demo-av-amplifier.html.

Responding to the title of this thread, the Denon AVR-X6300H is not merely the best, indeed it is the only receiver on a budget. And I do feel a bit awkward about this, because it is FunkyMonkey's thread and also because he has subsequently bought one, which I do hope gives him nothing but pleasure. However, since I praised the receiver in my post immediately above I think I should point out three little flaws with it.

The first is a possible slight lack of ultimate power, as mentioned in the AVForums review http://referencehometheater.com/review/denon-avr-x6300h-review/.

The third, and probably most troublesome issue is that some people experience a buzzing / whining noise, starting from post 184 of this thread https://www.avforums.com/threads/denon-avr-x6300h-discussion-thread.2034011/page-7 and going on for several more pages.

I myself am in the process of releasing some pension money and I have put £200 as a deposit on a Denon AVR-7200WA. When it arrives in about two more weeks I shall start my own thread about it, including the four reasons why I am getting it rather than the X6300H. (I don't want to take up FunkyMonkey's thread about an alternative machine any more.)

A great summary, Son.

Some reactions:

1. I am active on that AV Forums thread as FunkiestMonkey, for admin reasons. I have the issue. Or had the issue. My receiver is packed up and ready for collection today. I am deciding whether to trade it in for a 4300 and saev myself £500 and get my odl marantz stereo amp in action for the extra channels. More likely, however, is to give a replacement 6300 a chance.

2. Performance wise, there was headroom and then some. I think Tannoys, especially the ones with cone tweeters that I have are easily driven. Also as there are 11 channels and 2 10inch subwoofers, one at front and one at back, I found there was ample volume. I did have to turn the volume up to 75% though.

3. I like the Heos feature and this and the cost is why I would stick with 6300 over 7200.

4. The sound is sublime. I have an Atmos Blu Ray Audio disk of choral/orchestral music recorded especially for Atmos and it sounds so lifelike it is scary. The Holy Grail kind of live sound.
