Is the BBC HD channel ever going to be simulcast ?

With the launch of ITVHD just curious if the BBC are going to do the same sometime in the future?
I now have coronation street in HD just need Eastenders in it then im complete... 🙂

itvhd is the same as itv , the only difference is that there is no need to press the red button anymore when something hd comes on , coronation st is still in sd , along with 95% of the rest of the programmes ...

Yes, im well aware that coro isnt in true HD but ITV looks loads better on the HD channel thats for sure, just do an a/b comparison between the HD & SD & youll see.

i would have said it looks a touch better , probably because its being upscaled by itv and not my humax ..

It would be nice it BBC HD had a consistent schedule instead of chopping and changing everything around.
We had 2 episodes of Survivors on a Tuesday at 9.00pm and then none for two weeks because of the Olympics and then 1 episode back on a Tuesday and the last episode on a Thursday.
We had 2 episodes of the David Dimbleby series on a Sunday at 9.00pm then we had the Olympics for 2 weeks then Dimbleby was back on for 1 week, the following Sunday we get the Astronomy series and Dimbleby moves to Monday.
Heroes on a Saturday evening is any time between 9.45 and 11.15 and we had 6 episodes of Damages on a Thursday at 10.00pm but there is not one next week.
The way they move everything around is a joke and it's on HD on different days and times to BBC 1&2.
The scheduling is obviously sorted out in the pub after 6 pints on a Friday night.

You can't really blame the BBC for schedule changes during events like Olympics-Regular scheduling always takes a backseat for events like that,it will be no different for the World Cup!

I should also imagine its also quite difficult,if not impossible to keep to fixed schedule on a channel like BBC HD, that broadcasts programmes from all its channels, rather than a channel that just simulcasts......

If the BBC HD channel was BBC1 simulcast, folk would complain about all that non-HD material being shown! It's just a different approach, so that all of the programmes are actually genuinely HD. I don't really mind the repeats as it means you can catch up sometimes. It IS annoying, however, when an HD programme isn't shown at the same time and you have to wait for it!
