I don't believe the manufacture of the OS should put the age check in place, it should be done by those that make the Apps.

I believe it's a parents job to decide what is and isn't appropriate content for their kids to access.

A blanket ban imposed by a tech company is just a blunt tool that will lead to complacency and poor parenting that just puts kids at greater risk in my view

An odd decision.
I would like to know how they manage people that don't own a credit card or have a recognised form of ID, as many don't.

Actually it will just make Apple OS users look for ways around it (There is always a way), whereas if they have to target each App it will require more work and an App is more easily updated than an OS to block a bypass success.
