The scores in the IT Pro article are not right, but it does not change the fact the iPhone 5 looks set to be pretty fast. Geekbench takes in to account processor and memory speed, so i would assume poor read speeds from cheap micro sd cards were to blame for IT Pros poor scores. In real life, the s3 pips the iPhone 5, but the 5 is faster than the One X. Considering the power savings from running dual cores, that is an impressive feat!*

*Assuming the scores are legit. It is possible to fake geekbench uploads...

I have been mentioning a higher mhz doesn't mean its faster on other threads , and no two chipsets are the same e.g. AMD and Intel

If you look at the history of Intel and AMD since the single cores cpu its pretty clear its not all about speed of the cpu

Surely the main thing is that you're happy with your phone and it can do what you want it to do? Satisfaction is worth any amount of money, far more than paper-based tests which exclaim that Phone X is cheaper/quicker/more powerful/has more memory/plaits sawdust in prettier braids than Phone Y.
It's very easy in technical comparisons to lose the point...

The Iphone5 is a good example. My Htc One X has a much bigger screen, cpu twice as fast,

Shock horror report that specs and CPU speed aren't the be all and end all...

If you don't want to sit around getting angry whilst the update server crumples under the load, I would wait until tomorrow. There isn't anything that exciting in iOS6 anyway is there? Im quite keen on getting away from Google maps suggested links though, nothing more infuriating than being lost in deepest darkest no where and Google decides to use your precious one bar of gprs to render a pub fifty miles away rather than the town where you parked...

If its 6pm think I might wait a couple of days, was gonna try and get it done before the rush but doing it at 6 will be asking for trouble...to do all 3 devices would probably take all night :O

Just out of interest - someone run the sunspider benchmark in your browser on your iphone (whichever model), and note the scores before the update and then after..

Interesting to see how much of the speed increase is software or hardware.

Really? I have 58 minutes to go and I have been going 40 minutes! Guess there are a lot more iPhone 4 hitting the server (its difficult to pluralise a 4 without making it look like a 4s :( )
