I actually bought an S3 a month ago. After using it for a couple of weeks I just thought it was too big and I wasn't overly keen on the the interface (maybe just touch wiz). Anyway I returned the phone and got the 5 yesterday. It's do much faster than the 4. My only gripe is iTunes Match. It's taking far too long to download songs. I started downloading a playlist of 600 songs last night at about 8pm and its still got 217 to go. I have a 60mb fibre connection!

anyone else have that issue?

Actually it's not the speed of the download but the amount of time it takes to process and clear an item off the list. The same thing was happening with the 4. Just hoped it would have improved on this phone.

Is the iPhone 5's atenna better at picking up a cell signal indoors, compared to the 4 or 4S? (I ask because I'm thinking of swapping to an O2 broadband/mobile package, but O2 is normally only 1-bar, at best, in my house with a 4 or 4S.)

Ta :)

I haven't had time to read the whole iPhone 5 thread - I've used the iPhone 4 for nearly 2 years and have found that, over the last 6 months maybe, that I haven't been using it very much other than as a phone.
I have to say I was expecting something a little more ground breaking with the iPhone 5 and I'm now thinking Galaxy S3 as my next upgrade in a few weeks, especially with the Jelly Bean update just around the corner.

I loved the iPhone 4 ( along with my iPod 4th gen and 'new' Ipad) but I don't feel the new iPhone is a massive leap forward.

I'd say, 'not really'. But we're going to look at this over an extended use as hard to say... Have replied in your comment on the review.

Apparently, the lightning dock adapters aren't going to be available until 25th Otober. On top of it, it is possible third party adapters will not work:

Lightning is starting to look like a very interesting tech as info comes out. It's 8 pins are adaptive, which means hardwear manufacturers are going to be able to assign pins to whatever they need rather than having a fixed pin out diagram. This should provide a huge amount of expandability going forward.

Interesting, thanks BB. I have a Chronos iDock that I use in my kitchen and a micro system in the bedroom with a dock, so I ordered two third party adapters from Amazon. All seemed to use the stock Apple photo, and some said actual product may be different. Some did not say that audio passed through, whereas others did. I obviously ordered one that said it did. The company has been in touch to say they expect stock at the end of September (ie now-ish) and for them to arrive early October. I'm half expecting they won't work, but if they don't do what was advertised I will return them.

If I do have to end up buying from Apple, the cost will be offset by the fact that earpods are going for around £25 on eBay, and I have no use for mine.

"Going forward"??!! - |(

What's wrong with writing/saying, "in future"? :p

Vis-à-vis said dock, when technical adjustments are made to take account of seasonal variations, Apple could have adopted an open kimono approach to cascade the information to its technical partners while maintaining a tightly controlled cost containment envelope in the context of a group turnover situation regarding the end-user's ownership proposition.

Right now, at this point in time, I am blue skying the incentivisational potentialities of all the exciting directions in which we can leverage our collective synergies.

At present, we are currently actioning an inter-team group dynamic brainstorming workshop to gauge who's with the programme to determine if we're all on the same page regarding expediting solutions comensurate with past experience regarding the teams' own previous exposure to trial the elimination of low-hanging fruit to ensure robust policy regarding lessons identified, while exceeding tagets and diversifying towards a sufficiently mandatory execution, which will impact processes regarding high visibility leverage of best practices, built on a holistic approach that will determine an appropriate level of granuliarity regarding the solution opportunity.

I received this email just now from the supplier on amazon: "I am sorry for the delay in you receiving your item, this has been caused by the discovery of a custom chip inside the original lightning connector, The manufacturer is installing a new chip set inside the adapters to make sure they are compatible."

Interesting. I'd be surprised if they make any profit now! If it really does include a dac and a custom chip and works, then it will be a real bargain. They're still talking about getting them out in a week or so.

On a positive note, my belkin case finally arrived, very sharp and makes the iPhone a 'normal' weight instead of getting too heavy as I've found in the past. I have also sold my earpods on eBay for the same as apple's asking price, £25, just undercutting them slightly on postage :) Thank god for the fanboys ;)

The iPhone 5 is one of the most hyped phone launches to date, and predictably, it will be one of the most expensive devices to date. How much can you expect to buy the iPhone 5 for when it is released?

It should be like the current 4s - starting at $200 but it also depends on the memory.

Regards

Sid

Retailer is shopness, no idea who the manufacturer is.

Product here: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B009CHDB8A/ref=redir_mdp_mobile?redirect=true&ref_=oh_details_o05_s00_i00

Since ordering, it looks like they've been cancelling orders and getting bad reviews as a result, so I'm not hopeful!
