Dont know whether this is me just being a bit silly but can not find instructions on how long to charge my new iphone 5 straight out of the box when new ?

Any ideas please because I have looked everywhere for instructions and can not find anything to even give me a clue ?

Have not turned it on yet of course !

I would just just leave it on overnight for it's first charge. But that's from habit. I've done this with all rechargeable devices for many years. It may not even be necessary any more.

nothing to worry about it. Just charge it till it says it's full. Chances are you can use it straight out of the box without even charging it.

I wouldn't worry about turning it on! My gf's came fully charged, mine was around 70%. Just turn it on and set up as normal, it'll start to charge when you connect via usb to itunes, finish charging after that (or just use as is if it has some charge).

its true, lithium-ion batteries don't suffer memory, nickel metal hydride batteries did, as well as a few others

It its 2 hours for a quick charge and about 6 hours for a full charge.

If you charge till it says its full then you will notice the phone will not hold its charge as long as a propper charge.

Cheers all - I'm loving my new 5 - used to have a 3gs and the difference in quality is night and day.

It updates apps in a flash and at 64g's I can nearly fit all of my lossless music collection on it (nearly).

No problems with battery life either - left it on charge for about 4 hours and battery life is very good.
