Hi
Any one can tell me ,how to improve 2 channel stereo music using surround receiver.
I found my marantz surround receiver have more than average detail and clear but
vocal sound a little harsh. I also cant get mid bass or solid bass through front speaker.
My sub woofer is cover for low frequency but not punch mid bass.

Please advice .... need upgrade? To buy Cd Player or DAC or any thin else?

System use:
Receiver Marantz SR 7300. Panasonic Blu Ray Player BDP DM30. Pioneer DV 515 DVD Player. Speaker B&W DM602 S2 (Silver Anniversary bi wire Cable speaker). DM 601 S2 surround , cc6 S2 Center and ASW 600 Sub woofer. Analog Interconnect QED Qunex 4S. Black Rhodium Jazz main cable.Philips 42 and Supra HF100 HDMI.

Hi pgj2500, welcome to the forum.

Depending on what exactly you wish to get advice on, I think you'll get a better response if you post in either:

'Home Cinema': http://community.whathifi.com/forums/4.aspx or,

'Hi Fi': http://community.whathifi.com/forums/5.aspx

This particular forum isn't intended for this type of question. Might be best to provide a bit more info about exactly what your intentions are and budget? Do you just want to play CDs, or prefer watching TV / concert DVDs in stereo rather than surround?

Although not specifically what you asked... but in my opinion if you want to listen to music, you really are better off using a dedicated 2 channel amp rather than an AV one. This does however then lead you down the path of also getting either a CD player, or a DAC to connect to your BD / DVD players, as well as two more speakers (or the hassle of constantly switching cables between AV and Hi Fi).

I hardly ever get the opportunity to use my AV set up, so haven't spent too much time trying to get the best out of it. I'm sure others in either of the other forums mentioned above will be able to give advice more specific to your question.

If you haven't already seen it, there's a surround sound set up video guide on this site as well that will help you get the best from what you currently have.
