I need to upgrade my DAC... thoughts please...

I love Rega Electronics and have had the original Rega DAC for years. After getting my first Rega amp recently (the AMAZING Aethos) the synergy with the Rega DAC is clear. I also own the Ares Ii
I, but it never dethroned the Rega DAC and has been sitting mostly on the shelf. I have yet to try the the Ares with the Rega amp though (but preffered the Rega dac on 3 other amps). I know most people rave about the Ares, but as they say. your mileage may vary 😊

I have the rega k3 dac it didn't get the best reviews 3 star I remember but it was reviewed at £1300 and I picked mine up used but it perfect condition for round £300 at that price point I don't think you can get better

Whether it's 3 stars or 5 is irrelevant. It's more about how it works with your system.

I agree its more about how it works with your system .I find reviews helpful as a starting point .
