It wont be too dark because gel wont be watching DV content as he wont be getting a player that supports it and wont be streaming netflix..

So the earlier statement is of no concern
Ah cheers - that's great!
but it does mean his not going to like it when he does start watching DV content though. If it's a problem now no point buying it!

It'll be the same with HDR as well.
Cancelled ordered the 55 eg960v for £2000 at John Lewis - virtually no difference in picture quality.

Cancelled? Or ordered? It seems even you're having problems keeping up with yourself now! ;-)
Cancelled the 55 e OLED and ordered 55 eg960 on sale. I will stick with this now and if it ain't no good order the Sony.

Gel, if you mean that there's little difference in picture quality between last year's 55EG960V and this year's 55 E6, then you are simply wrong. Did you not read the first paragraph of the conclusion of the review, which says:

"the Korean manufacturer has systematically addressed the shortcomings of the company’s previous OLEDs, culminating in the exemplary display sitting right in front of us today. Undefeatable noise reduction? Rectified. Near-black vignetting? Gone. Uneven colour tinting? No longer an issue. Dark-scene hue errors? Corrected."

Why would you go back to the previous generation, the 960V? Also the main man at James Morrow in Edinburgh says that the E6 and G6 OLEDs are noticeably better than last year's OLEDs. Yes, I know that there are reports on the 65" E6 having banding, but there are lots of OLEDs like that, except the Panasonic 4K OLED. It's your money, but I think going back to one of last year's OLED is a mistake, unless you want a curved television.

I think I do like curved ones but Bumtious did a side by side comparison and you could hardly tell. He had both TVs on and working side by side.

It's best for you to wait for more HDR reviews, and demo HDR content yourself in the shops. Don't rush into buying a TV, give some time to decide what's best for you.
Okay, cheers. I think I will still keep with my order at John Lewis because I have 90 days to change my mind. I might go for a 65-inch if the prices drop.

Sticking to John Lewis is a good idea, although you need to work on not changing your mind that often!

Currys are the only ones that stock the 65-inch models now but they still quite expensive, but I do like Currys customer service I have always been impressed by them.

Currys are OK for initial returns, but if your TV develops problems few months down the line, they're generally more difficult to deal with as compared to John Lewis.
Ah, okay! *good*

Great! Is this the E6 then? I'm sure the Panasonic issue would have been sorted with a factory reset. Glad you're happy now. *good*
Nope, it's the 55-inch LG 55-eg960 ZD model, with 3 HDMI 2.0a HDR. When to Currys this morning and just picked it up with my brother in law. Picture is fantastic better than the Panasonic. Missing the 65-inch size a little but super happy. Cheers BB.
