i have posted on another forum and i wanted some impartial advice!

i have a budget of 600- evryone seems to be pointing me in the direction of the panasonic 42px80 the thing is i cant get it with a 5year warrany anywhere locally!

at my local costco they have a toshiba regza 42xv555 that is much higher spec-ed than the panasonic and has a 5yr warranty but people on the other forum are telling me he panasonic is the better tv

is this the case? is the panasonic truly the best tv for my budget?

help would be great

I have a 37PX80 and it's brilliant.

I think the 42PX80 is highly rated on this forum too.

Do you have a Richer Sounds near you?

i do bud but i am just off the phone with them and they are not getting any more px80s in until a week on sunday if at all as in his words "its an older panasonic model so we dont know how many are actually left that we can get our hands on"

i have checked online and other stores locally have stock of it now so im tempted just to go and get it without the warranty if the television is infact as good as people say, i just wanted to hear it from another place incase everyone on the other forum was obsessed with it!

You could buy it and get it delivered off their website for £609.94 without 5 year warranty or £664.89 with 5 year warranty if you really need it that quickly.

Ring head office and see if they have any in stock for the website.

i can also get 10% student discount in comet/currys/dixons/pc world then i would take it but i may need to negotiate a bit!

I know this is a little smaller but saw in the Richer Sounds email this morning they are doing the Sony kdl42v4000 in their boxing day sale for £499 and then if you wanted a 5 yr warranty would be just £50 extra seems a fairly good deal.

hello

I recentley had the same choice as you and went for the Panasonic 42 inc px 80.I am finding this set superb and would recommend it over anything else at this price range so the advise and comments about this set are all correct.

SD performance is good and I can't tell any difference between it and higher spec sets in high def.

the best price I've seen is at Martin Dawes for 530 but you may have to wait for new stocks, Richer sounds 549 direct tv 549

thanks bud i did see the lower prices you have mentioned but no stock as you say and when i add in delivery its the same price as buying it off the shelf- so im tempted to just head out and buy it for £600 and be watching it tonight!

Currys have the 42PX80 in their sale for 'only' £499, which has got to be a bargain. And the great thing is that you can just reserve one from the website to be collected from a local store.

(and no, I don't work for Currys or DSGi...

Well I must consider myself lucky to have been able to pick one up yesterday then.
