How to tell genuine cable?

I bought some QED speaker cable (this stuff http://goo.gl/hKEie0 ) from a third party seller on Amazon. It arrived today. How can I verify that's it's the real deal? What should I look for, how should the name be embossed, should it be printed on the insulation?

Want to wait until new banana plugs come before trying it out, want to verify it's real if possible before cutting it

There are loads of people (and I suspect some other creatures) on this forum that'll tell you they're all the same.

So, if it has some kind of metal up the middle and some kind of other squishy stuff round the outside, it's genuine!! ;)

Yep...

Listen to it!

Obviously if it's the right cable you will hear the difference....

or not.

I needed new cable and I've splashed out on a branded one just to get that warm and fuzzy feeling inside.

I will listen to it as soon as the new banana plugs arrive! I have to be honest and admit I've yet to be able to tell the difference between cables on the various systems I've had over the years.

I needed black as current wire is white and stands out against the dark walls but I don't want to get ripped off, thanks for your replies.

To be fair, that's great value anyway, and no more expensive than no-name cable. I'm sure it's absolutely fine...

:)

As for "real-deal". I wouldn't worry.
