How to get CEC working on Apple TV

Background:
  • Apple TV feeds into an HD Fury Arcana
  • HD Fury Arcana feeds sound to Sonos Arc
  • HD Fury Arcana feeds picture to Epson projector
HDMI-CEC used to work perfectly so when I switched on the Apple TV (and previously, the Amazon Fire Stick) via their bundled remote, the projector would switch on, triggering the screen to drop. Likewise, switch off, and everything closed down (or up for the screen) correctly.

Now, randomly, the switch on function doesn't work and I have to manually switch on the projector which triggers the screen. However, switching off continues to work correctly.

I've done the firmware updates, unplug, replug, reset, reconnect remote, etc ... and still can't the switch on to work correctly.

Does anyone have any ideas?

I'm not familiar with the HD Fury Arcana, but I am using a similar non-brand generic digital HDMI/USB C/Optical/Coax monitor adapter that allows me to switch between my home desktop and work laptop, it works to Samsung's monitor max settings 2K @ 240hz without issues.
Unfortunately my cheap adapter isn't compatible with Sonos Arc so I can't suggest an alternative.

Below is link to their online manual. Hope this helps.

When you say you've done the firmware update, was it for all three devices, Epson, Apple TV and Arcana?

So - got CEC working properly, but lost sound to the Arc ... reset Arcana and back to square one - sound to Arc, but no power on CEC. Will start adjusting individual items in the menu and see if trial and errror can narrow the fault down.
