You dont say what type of tv you have, is it lcd? plasma or a crt?
Anyway have a look here http://www.keene.co.uk/ as these guys have all sorts of conecteor and switch boxes to convert most signals from one type to another.

sorry for lack of information...
this is a LCD tv Philips 32PFL7562D, and indeed, my laptop has s-video, but doesn't it provide poor quality?
so which way would be better s-video or d-sub-->conector-->dvi?

D-sub - DVI should be better, but it depends what quality you want from your computer. S-vid would certainly be the least expensive way of doing it...

thank you Andrew for advice
I will need quality as good as possible ;) for watching dvds, x264 hd rips and games
I'd rather pay more for d-sub - dvi option than s-vid and loosing quality

a little bit of googling and i found those:

cable
and
connector

can those be of help?
