I have owned my hifi for nearly 10 years and upgrade parts as and when

I have always wired my speakers as 4 wires from each speaker into 2 on the amp (x2 left and right) at the mo i run 4 x 1m lengths of qed silver anniversary but am now considering xt400 - should i run 4 into 2 or just run 2 wires per speaker and use high quality connectors to link the 4 terminals on the back?

System - Cambridge 740azur amp, Discmagic 1 and dacmagic2 Mordaunt Short MS40i

Eventually I think i will need to replace the speakers possibly mezzo 6's

My personal preference/experience is that is 'better' to have a higher quality single run and then use jumpers (of the same cable type if poss) between the speaker terminals.

thanks - now looking into qed xt 400 jumpers with single runs

I have recently become convinced that jumpers are a waste of time. The speaker cable wether terminated or not has to go to a hopefully gold binding post. So any solid gold plate jumpers are just an extension (part) of that binding post. If anything the signal will be more disurbed by going through extra plugs and bits of cable, which is really like having a cable cut and rejoined along it's length. Just go for better single runs of cable. What about QED revelation as it's ment to be the big brother of the cable you have.........

Or NVA LS 1....VERY NICE

If what you've always done works for you stick with it. I've not had biwireability for a while but always found two runs of cable sounded fuller.

i don't agree that biwiring makes a difference in fact most cables make no difference at all, but now i may be shot down by some forum members, i like gotham cables, no nonense no fuss just good decent cables until i changed to van damme cables it may be said that naim cables are good with there own amps so be it but the van dammes make a difference beacuse they work, i dont know why but they do. Trevor may be along to tell you about mains cable making a difference so at least listen to what he says , i personally disagree about main cables making a difference but not a separate spur, this is a tricky subject to be sure but only your ears can tell what's right and wrong.
