How long have you been cursed for?

Someone else has a curse of What Hifi Thread and it got me thinking...

I have been cursed since 1986 when I worked in a 'real' HiFi shop in Wolverhampton. Fighting the 'do you want it in black or silver' guys and trying to sell 'proper' equipment. Frightening where the time goes really.

I put a lot of the curse down to What HiFi. First time or not, don't for a second think that when you have your system all sorted out you will
stop buying, because that is exactly what the curse of What HiFi is -
showing you what the next best thing is to enable you to constantly
improve, evolve and upgrade your system so that you can wring every
last drop out of it, until a new technology comes along... And then you
want that one....

You can't beat the curse either by stopping buying the mag
either. That doesn't work. Well, it does for a month or two and then
you just pick up a copy to see if your system is still holding its own
against all the other new kit that has been released, and then you see
something else that you NEED....

We're all trapped by the curse of What Hifi........

So, how long have you been cursed for?

15 months.... but had a foray into hifi about 15 yrs ago

Last week I Googled things like "best hdtv" and stumbled upon whathifi.com. This was an excellent discovery and narrowed my selection down to either of Sony's KDL40W4000 or KDL40W4500 within the first hour of being here. After reading more my heart is now set on the 40W4500 and even more so now its an award winner.

Trouble is, I only wanted to find a good TV. Thats it, thats all I wanted. But now, after spending time reading reviews and members posts on the forum, now I want a Blueray player (Sony BDP-S350), AV Reciever (Sony STR-DG820) and surround sound (not chosen the speakers yet, the price's scare me!).

Cursed, and I haven't even spent a penny yet!
