How do you get the best picture from a Sky + box to a Yamaha, ASPAX757SE

I am hoping I don’t need to upgrade my amp to get the best picture. I am using the horrible svideo port on the sky box at present, and sending the signal from the amp via component (I think, red, blue & green). Is there a smarter way of doing this?? The picture at present is C**p!
