For the Avatar you need to click on the 'My Account' section on the top right of the page. Then click on the tab 'Forum Settings'. Under here it will be best to enable all the options. You will then need to upload an image and enable.

why cant we just drag a photo in and just drop it . my forum site that i use for work is like this ( not hi fi related)

is this why most people on here dont have avatar ?

To upload photos - First of all you need to ensure the photos are hosted somewhere such as Flickr. www.flickr.com (Free site)
Once this is done you can start to post pictures. Personally I use Firefox but I assume it will be similar for Explorer.

You will need to get the address location of your picture so (using Flickr) click on the photo you want to upload. Once this is done you will need to right click and select 'properties'. You will then be presented with a small box of data and the top line will say Location. Copy the URL listed opposite this.

When you post there should be a tool bar available under the message header. Located on this is an icon of a picture of a tree. Click on this and it will bring up a little box. The top line will say Image URL. Paste the URL you previously copied here. Then set the Image Alignment. Once this is done the dimensions of your image should be shown. You may need to resize the image if it is too large (more than 400 pixels) as this really peeves of the Mods! Then just click on 'Insert' and job done!!

has2mow,

some people have trouble with their avatar's. have a look at this thread. If you ask nicely on that thread the good people at whf will upload an avatar for you at their end! THat's what i had to do as mine doesn't work either!

Does this work then:

Yes, it is Sean Connery.

The Film is 'Zardoz'.

And yes, I suspect they paid him plenty to dress up like that!

Hi

I have followed all the relevant threads on this site but still cannot get my avatar to load.

I also failed to upload a picture. I have copied the text I tried below for the pic (I realise now the pic I tried is far too big, but I am a bit scared to keep trying various pics as it will be very annoying for everyone).

<IMG src="http://picasaweb.google.co.uk/lh/photo/HNL5ullmlRSh2cuJeHuuXw">

or perhaps

Any advice

Well here is the image. The first address you have typed is not the location of the image. (It needs to end .JPG or .BMP etc) The second address is the correct location.

Did you read my post on pictures?? Do you get the tool bar to use in your messages with the picture icon?

As for the way PJPro lists how to post pictures (like you have tried (although it seems you have missed out a / near the end)) I have never been able to get this to work nor would it let you resize the image. Maybe PJPro can check that out??

The easiest way is to use the 'Insert Image' button.

Ahhhhh... success. Thank you very much. Maybe they were just too big the first time.

BTW, other than searching all threads, where are the rules for pics etc i.e. I only found out the 400pixel rule because I saw somebody else get told off!?

If you are wondering I was discussing (on another thread) about switching the caps in my Monitor Audio Silver 8's. Having looked insode the speaker (see pics) I am terrified and have probably decided against.

I will also email my avatar to you, Andrew thanks.
