I am just about to embark on the conversion of my entire CD collection (around 3500 CD's) to a library/archive format, in this case FLAC. Which I am going to use to convert for other uses for example my iPod Touch and USB stick for the car.

During my research into the tools I would need and the format to store the CD's in I came across an article which I thought I would share with you. It is quite indepth and a lengthy read.

It makes me think a little as I would in the future like to go down the streamed music route.

Article here: http://people.xiph.org/~xiphmont/demo/neil-young.html

BTW It's not a Neil Young demo, he is mentioned at the beginning of the article.

Thanks John for your reply. Missed that debate.

Was considering whether it would be worth staying with 88 or 92 if and when i make a purchase.

Will Keep my eyes open for reviews of album and decide from there.

Best thing is let your ears and wallet decide. I bought a 24/92 recording from Linn and it's a bit special. I haven't heard a higher sample rate trck than that so I don't know if it's real or not. I'll try a couple though just to find out for myself (when I can find somewhere to buy them from)
