I am looking for a pair of high-gloss white compact speakers that can be wall-mounted in the kitchen, and connected as a second pair to my Yamaha DSP-AX1 AV amp in the next room, where the main speakers are Mission 782s with an impedance of 8ohms and sensitivity 89dB. I must be able to use both pairs of speakers at once, and the amp manual states that for this they must all be rated at 8ohms or higher. The amp's output power per channel is 110W-150W. The Q Acoustics 2010s would look good, but are rated at 6ohms. The Tangent Evo 5s reviewed in WHF May,2009 may suit, but I can't find them anywhere. I would be grateful for any suggestions.

I've got a pair of gloss white Monitor Audio Radius90HD in the kitchen but offhand can't tell you what the impedance is. They sound awesome though

What about running AVI's ADM9.1 gloss white speakers from the pre-out of the AV amplifier?

AVI speakers have built-in amplification, making your concerns of driving to pairs of speakers a non issue.

This will also enable independent volume control and additonal sources to be connected.

I'd expect 4 ohms would be fine as long as you didn't go for volume. Most amps will handle 2 ohm loads, but you can't push the volume past 10 oclock, or the power supply won't be happy.

Hi gjdroberts

You should consider the Monitor Audio R90HD speakers which are available in gloss white and also come supplied with appropiate (and superb) wall brackets. They have an 8 ohm impedence and can handle 100w (you'll probably won't get near this). I have used the R90HD's with Yamaha's DSP-Z11 and Chord Electronics SPM3005 and they have performed and handled power admirably.

Yamaha AV amps + Monitor Audio speakers = great match (time after time)

Btw, Yamaha DSP-AX1 is an excellent amp.

Thanks

Regas RS1's come in gloss white as well. Those little boxes are pretty easy drives, and sound great too. Best part is they won't be breaking the bank either...

Many thanks to all who took the trouble to reply. I have gone for the Monitor Audio Radius R90HDs as recommended by "Visionary" and "Rick@Musicraft". These look ideal and I'll be getting them on the 17th.
