I assume it's an output with the low frequencies filtered out, so if you are using a subwoofer or two, the main speakers only get the midband and high frequencies.
one thing I always wondered... Say you have a quad amped pair of speakers. Would it be advantageous to filter out the bass for the tweeters and the treble for the woofers *before* the power amp stage, or does the fact that the impedance of those frequencies in the speaker will be so high it's pretty much irrelevant... kind of electrically the same.?
