Clare Newsome:I detest every word becoming a verb. "Actioning" was bad enough, but the Olympics has even turned "medal" into a verb - eg "Team GB failed to medal in the BMX this morning". Grrrr

chebby:"Leveraging our synergies" is the ugliest bit of corporate speak I have ever had the mis-fortune to remember.

That's bad. How about 'BAU' (business as usual), 'core competence framework', 'I'll see you in the margins of the meeting', and 'World Class'?

Our latest is 'Lean' techniques, an amalgam of the previous process mapping and continuous improvement - which was not continuous. If it had been - there would be no need for 'Lean'.

This is the civil service too........

Graham_Thomas:I'd like to know who coined the phrase 'credit crunch' as I hate it, along with 'insurgents'. 'Robust', 'mitigate the risks', 'tease out the issues', 'functionality', 'architecture', 'funding steams' and 'strategic fit' are my current work ones to hate - yuck!

i reckon that a be some spin doctor or another. "credit crunch" to them probably sounds better than "recession"

Cut it out chaps, there should be a punishment for mentioning the 'w' word after 5pm on a Friday evening.
