Hi

I'm interested in a bedroom mini system. Looking at a few offers at Superfi at the moment and they have the Denon Dm37 paried with Q Acoustic 1010i's for £260, Wharfedale 9.1 Diamonds for £280 and Tannoy Mercury F1 Customs for £300.

Which of these are the best in your opinion?

Are there any other systesm that you could recommend. Ideally, I'd like a CD player and sound quality is most important. I tend to listen to a wide variety of music and some radio broacasts.

Thanks very much.

with a budget of £280 ... I would definately look at older used items off ebay

£120 will get you a used pioneer A400 amp in good condition

£100 (or less) will get you a good pair of mission 751 speakers

£50 will get you a rotel rcd-965BX cd player

you will have a reasonable system for your money

See what sort of a system deal you could get on NAD C515BEE - NAD C315BEE and Q Acoustics 1010i. This would be better than the Denon DM37DAB or the Rotel/Pioneer/Mission 2nd hand system (I've had both).

Thanks for your replies.

Can you suggest any DAB systems please?

If you really want a DAB system I'd look at the Onkyo ones personally, although also well worth looking at the NAD C715 and the Marantz CR502.

Beware the volume control on the Denon. The gaps between settings are quite large. I couldn't find a comfortable listening level. Its a poor design that (for me) ruins a very capable little unit.
