hi fi problem

Hi, can anyone help. I have got a Nad cassette deck and seem to have problems with recording levels out of one channel. I have no problem in playback of old cassettes. The problem occurs when recording new material.

I appreciate the deck is old but still like to have this facility.

Try cleaning and de-magnetising the heads. If that doesn't work then you might have to take it for investigation/repair I'm afraid.

Isopropyl alcohol applied (very carefully of course and just a tiny amount) with a cotton bud onto the tape head is an effective tape head cleaner and should solve the problem. If not - try swapping the play/record cables over and if the problem changes from recording to playback the cables may need replacing.

if i were you i would be cautious about spending too much time and/or money repairing your cassette deck. considering how cheaply you can pick one up on ebay (normally
