Hi All

My speaker package is really old with Eltax symphony6.2 fronts,Eltax symphony centre,& Gale gold surrounds.

Room size is 14ft-9ft,& Budget is Max £1500

The main use is gonna be for music, then films & gaming.

Any suggestions to bring the best out of my amp ?

My Monitor Audio RS8 AV package work very well for me in a larger room than yours.
Why not have a listen to the RS6 AV system, with good discounts about you should buy them well within budget.

Also a BT MTU 500va makes a massive difference to the musical performance of the Onkyo, fleebay is the place to look for them.

mgillespie05:SORRY TO SOUND SILLY WHAT IS A bt mtu 500va..

It's a mains conditioner.

pip1st74:Somebody metioned 2 me the otherday the B&W 685 Theatre,How do u find out which speakers r most compatible with the Onky 685 ?

Might sound too obvious, but the only way to find out if an amp and speakers are compatible for you and your likes is to audition them together.

Purely a space issue - to use the 686s, the right hand speaker would have had to have been pretty much level with me and next to my ear, whereas I was able to position the M-1s further back in the room. I demoed both setups and decided having the 686 like that didn't work so went with the M-1s.

Not sure, depends where you go. For RRP, the 685s are £380, HTM682 is £250 (I think) and the M-1s are £150. Add in the ASW610 sub (£400) and stands for the M-1s (another £150) if you need them. Don't forget you'll also need stands for the 685s - I use the Atacama Nexus 6s filled with 3/4s or so with Atabites.

I got mine from Sevenoaks in Epsom about a year and a half ago I think - speakers were RRP but I got all speaker cable etc. put in for free.
