Help ! Will this work : Panasonic DMP-BD55 and Arcam Diva AVR350 Heaven or Hell ?

If I bought these 2 = Panasonic DMP-BD55 and Arcam Diva AVR350 would I still get a HD Sound quality from the 7.1 Blu-ray into the receiver and let the Panny decode the sound and upconvert/upscale DVD pictures and Blu-ray discs ? My Sky HD would then go into the receivers HDMI input for picture and optical for sound.

It just seems you could get both and the leads for about £1000 which seems a bargain.

Yup, as long as you're thinking you can plug the 7.1 analogue multichannel outputs from the Panny into the Arcam for sound and then plug HDMI into it only for video, this will work. I'm not sure it's something I would necessarily recommend since you're buying an amp with an old spec, but if you've heard the Arcam and like it, then this would work.
