Help - HDMI 1&2 output from PS3 on Yamaha A2010

Hello, I wonder if anybody can help. I have my PS3 connected to the Yamaha and then both HDMI output 1&2 active so I can alternatively choose to view the video on the TV or on the projector. However, when I turn on the PS3 and try to watch it on the tv, it does not work, I actually have to turn on the projector and then the display finally comes out on the TV. Then I can turn off the projector and the display is just fine on the TV. Why do I need to turn on the projector? Is this a bug? Many thanks.

Is it possible that in your Yamaha's settings that the Optoma projector is the default display and the TV is the secondary display ie. HDMI 1 & 2 output? You could check the settings or swap the HDMI cables ie plug the projectors HDMI in to the tv and the TVs into the projector as a simple test.

I went throught the manual and there is a comment, "when both HDMI output 1&2 are selected the receiver will output in the lowest resolution accepted by both monitors". This leads me to think that in order to be able to determine what is the lowest resolution of both displays it actually require both to be "on" before starting to output the signal. When I choose output 1 or output 2 independently then, there is no issue.
