Hello,

I am looking at purchasing a hifi but am currently a poor student and my budget really can't stretch to more than £200. I am beginning to sense this is completely unrealistic for a basic hifi system but am struggling to select one of those integrated mini systems. My main priorities are being able to play my ipod and cds and LOUD speakers with a good quality bass as I listen to dance music, specifically minimal techno. I don't understand the wattage of the speakers enough to know what is above average loud and therefore can't work out which ones are right for me. I having real difficulty selecting one so any help would be appreciated!

Thanks!

You're right - difficult for £200 with traditional separates, particularly if you want mental bass. You can consider the Audioengine A2 but this'll only cover your iPod........

A little all in one from Denon/Teac might be a good idea - usually 25ish good quality watts.

Otherwise ebay some older separates.

I agree - you need to save a few more pennies for a decent all in one mini system. (See the reviews section) or jump on e-bay and start building up your seperates.
