I am so bloody annoyed with myself. Got a new pair of RS8's last night and I was putting them through their paces. I thought the bass was a bit overblown so i decided to pull the speakers away from the wall a bit. I wasn't thinking straight and pulled the wire straight out of the back of the banana plug.

These QED Airlocks are fitted at the point of purchase and crimped I assume with a specific tool. Any how the wire won't push back in the end and I am very upset.

I was considering maybe heating up the banana plug to heat the internal diameter and then trying to shove the wire in then and rapid cool.

Has anybody else had this misfortune?

Any ideas?

If it had happened to me adamshaw after i'd have called myself all the names under the sun i would go back to my hifi store (presuming you got them from one & not online)& let them sort it out for me, mind you i've got some good pull with my hifi dealer as ive been using them for over 20yrs.

Thats what id do anyway, i would call you a plonker but you know that alraedy adam haha

Youll sort it, good luck.

Unfortunately I bought my cables on eBay and I live in Ireland in the middle of nowhere.

I had another idea that maybe I could pour solder into the end of the banana plug, heat it up and ram the wire in afterwards. Probably won't hold as well as the crimp but shouldn't fall out the back due to vibration.

Air-Locs falling out or being pulled are frequent happenings and there have been a number of similar threads here in the past.

I would recommend getting someone with a soldering iron and a crimping tool to solder all the connections or get some new banana plugs with screw connections .

Went with the blowtorch and solder option, all is well again.
