Headphone dilemma

Hi,

I'm in the market for some new headphones primarailly for listen to the TV and hi-fi when the wife is also in the room reading etc.

I think I have narrowed it down to the Sennheiser HD228 or HD238, the 238's seem to get good reviews on their sound quality but my only worry is about the leakage, does anyone know how bad it really is? I.e. would it annoy someone else in the room if they are at low to moderate volume?

Or should I just stick with closed back if I'm at-all worried about leakage?

Thanks - new to this world of headphones! Who knew there was so much to consider!

In my experience, yes.

Even closed backed does not guarantee against leaking sound. I have not tried them, but going by reviews and manufacturer claims the Sennheiser HD380 and AKG K271 and K272HD do not leak sound. Though they are over £100.
