Hi,

My sub is directly into the wall socket never been plugged into anything else, it does have a Merlin mains cable plugged into though (aarrgh I'm in for it now)

All I can say is the Apex sub is absolutely fantastic, knocks my old one for six.

heathpw....you added an article on here yesterday, I think, from an engineer....where did it go? I wanted to comment on it?

Finally, I had a mate over yesterday and gave him the 'blind test' with my old QED HDMI-P cable and the new Chord Active.....I also 'blind tested' him on plugging my receiver in the Tacima or directly into the wall socket.......here are the results.....

He preferred the receiver plugged into wall straight away. He said it sounded clearer with more detail and a natural sound. After which, I told him what I had done to improve it.

He guessed the Chord Active cable over the QED when using it with the blu ray player(dvd concert), and using freeview from my DVD recorder.......'colours are brighter and the picture has more detail'

He loved it so much, he has borrowed the Chord to test his tv, as he uses an older HDMI cable.....

I guess all three tests were just luck, though....right heathpw?

Ok try again then, here is the link to the article

I think you imagined all those differences.

I'll let eveyone who has said the same thing after a 'blind' A/B comparison test with my set up know that you think they have imagined it....

Cheers......

The guy on the article has an electronic engineered degree....judging by the monetary values mentioned, I assume he is American, with an American degree, right???

I'll tell the whole world that heathpw thinks your imagining it, if anyone notices differences, don't you worry.....

Anyway, you seem to base your defiance on this article...so I just wanted to let you know that an american degree is a similar level, educationally, as our 'A' levels........

If you wanna know how I know this, just ask.....

Whats your degree in, I have a master in Advanced control systems and I studied dgital systems so I knew the principals behind how they digital systems operate years ago. I agree completely the Amercian and with his desription which illustrates the point about why HDMI cables cannot make the difference you say but you obviously cant grasp the logic and theory behind it.

I know more than you think.....
emotion-5.gif

........which includes knowing that more expensive HDMI cables make a difference. I know this, because I, with others, have heard/seen it.

I just like hearing your social skills transformed into writing......(although spelling and grammar could be improved)

cheers for now.....

well for what its worth i think hdmis can make a diferance, i had a cheap hdmi for my projector i instaled this year but when i got it all up and runing i had crakle type thing on the screen (like an old style film role)that flashed up intermittently

any way i hadnt had this before with any of my qed hdmis and was advised(by andrew i think)to try an upgrade so i did and a perfect picture

no degree to back this up im afraid but i do have a gcse in art and i got a good few badges as a cub

Nope, but I never said I did. But with two electronic engineering degrees in the family, and a lifetime of experience, I just may have access to information on this subject.....

But that's beside's the point.......point is people can hear/see differences, which seems to be something you can't stomach.

Bet your great in a pub argument, thou......

Cookie Monster:

I have to keep sneaking online to take a look at this thread, its too much. Better than the Inbetweeners!

lol.......my work is done on this one now....clearly a lot of hifi/av enthusiasts 'imagine' improvements when it comes to cables....
emotion-42.gif

But I'm not going to be putting my old QED HDMI-P cables back into my system anytime soon.

(Mods-this thread is done...please lock it, as it's going nowhere!)
