Bought this freesat box the other day as it was going for a song, and I thought I'd try it for the extra channels and HD channels I obviously don't get with freeview.
When I link the box straight to the TV, it works fine. But when I go through my receiver, I get nothing until I unplug then re-plug in the sat box. This works, except the audio is about 2 seconds behind the video! Obviously completely unwatchable. If i change inputs on my rxr or switch the satbox to standby, It won't work again until I do another power cycle.
I also had problems with the sound cutting out via HDMI on my Vision box, so I've had to use the optical out for audio.
This is really unacceptable, to pay £1500 for a reciever only to learn it doesn't actually work properly with certain devices.
To my mind, it's not fit for purpose, but I know I'd be fighting a losing battle on those grounds.
Is it a problem with the boxes or the reciever, because both the boxes work OK when connected straight to the TV? Therfore I would point the blame at the receiver.
This simply shouldn't happen, I mean, if you bought a washing machine that doesn't have the right connections, meaning it could never be plumbed in properly, you'd go straight back with it demanding a replacement or refund.
Is it 'incompatibility' or is one or more pieces of my kit faulty?
Has anyone else had similar problems? If so, what's the answer?
