HDMI Cables - Is there any perceptable difference in sound/picture?

What, if anything, differentiates one HDMI cable from another? If the transmitted signal is digital (ie 0's and 1's) how can it vary? Are £50+ cables a con or is there noticeable improvement over standard cables?

1. Welcome to the forum

2. Use the search function, this question gets asked a lot and there are some who believe they do make a difference, other's don't. Therefore try them for yourself, if you think the expensive ones are worth the extra, fair enough but if not, return them and buy some blurays

3. IMHO, no. Just buy good quality cables from a trusted supplier that is an HDMI adopter and offers a lifetime warranty

in my opinion using a lower priced name brand(purple qed)i did notice a diferance not masive but a slightly better picture and sound but many will tell you there is no diferance, im afraid by the end of this thread you will be none the wiser with as many people telling you your mad for spending more than a fiver and the others telling you to go for it and why buy decent tv bluray player and tv and hooking it up with cheap cables.

im recon theres gonna be some stuff about 1 and 0s not changing from one end of the cable to another and a bit about placebos

sorry i cant be much help but your best bet is to try one yourself maybe worth seeing if you can borrow one from a friend or shop in no some shops have leads out the back that thay might have had on display tvs. could be worth seeing if you can borrow one for a small deposit or your card details.then if it dosent work you could return it or them

I still think the gadget show was spot on.

They had a really expensive cord and a cheap one.

Same player same tv same move, and they could not see a difference side by side.

I would not think its worth paying above 20.00 for a cord. IMHO
