hdmi cabable laptop

hi all dont wish to sound thick, however if my laptop has hdmi socket will it play blue ray and hdcd if i hook it up to an AV amp with hdmi?

It all depends whether you have a blu-ray or hddvd player, if you haven't it wont play them.

it should play downloaded hd material though , through something like vlc player , which you can download for free ...
