I met my favourite band of recent years tonight after their gig, i was really disheartened and upset. Firstly they sold me a cd for almost twice the price as they thought i was drunk...... then when i complained, as i was then told they were half the price they sold it to me, then they said i was an idiot and laughed at me, one of the band then took me back stage, and i said it was an honour to see them play and none of them said anything..... one member then said i couldnt get a refund and said the only way to even it out was to buy another of their cd's....seems they are far too concerned about selling their album for an absurd price.

I just dont get why a band that plays to adoring fans and audiences all over europe and america can get so bitter and not appreciate their fan base, i know im only one guy but surely if they treated me with respect and gave me just a second of their time i would recommend them and their music to people and therefore extending their fanbase.

NAME AND SHAME!!!!

I've never met my heroes, PWEI, I even missed their reunion tour by two weeks, so I never got to see them live, however the drummer, Fuzz Townsend, now works on Practical Classics magazine and I've spoken to him on their forum, seems like a nice chap.

Other than that I can't think of any other heroes. I did headbutt Steve Davis in the groin in Hamleys once, but I was only about 6 at the time and didn't realise it was him because I was in too much of a hurry to get to the Lego...

nah, nobody'd have got the "austin mini" reference then (in fact 'Rover' might have brought blank stares as well...)

You should have kicked the *** out of at least one of them.

I worked at the 'V' festival for about 7 years (Hylands Park, Chelmsford. Not the Leeds site) and met a lot of the acts. Best of the bunch were Supergrass, who were top, top fellas.

Also down to earth and generally nice were Manic street Preachers, the Charlatans, Robbie Williams, Mel C (Honest, she was nice), The Cardigans and the guy from the divine comedy.

Worst of the lot were the Prodigy. Arrogant idiots.

I've met 3 members of the Strawbs briefly. We spoke briefly to Dave Cousins after a gig at Leicester Cathedral and he was particularly gracious with my better half - a true gentleman. After the same gig, we also spoke briefly to Chas Cronk who was very down to earth and pleasant.

Then, before a gig in St. Helens we spoke briefly to Dave Lambert while he enjoyed a pre-concert smoke. Again, a thoroughly nice bloke.

On the classical side I've met many of my idols in various situations. Particularly memorable was sharing a pre-concert meal with Christopher Maltman and Malcolm Martineau (alongside Prof. Denis McCaldin) at University. They were both very erudite and extremely interesting to talk with. I turned pages for Mr Martineau during the performance.

I've also turned pages for Bernard Roberts (who was lovely) and had the pleasure of meeting John Lill. A post-concert conversation with the Lindsay Quartet was also most enjoyable.

Finally, I've had quite a bit of contact with the British pianist Martin Roscoe. I studied piano with his teacher (Marjorie Clementi) and he gave very generously of his time on more than one occasion to provide additional advice and comments on my playing.

I met Robbie once in Madame Jo Jo's. Nice fella, and seemed to be down to earth.

No doubt he regales in telling people he met me once...'and guess what he had an Arcam hifi. Good bloke. Grnnn.'

We had a chat with Clint Mansell at Lancaster Sugarghouse in '93. It was when he had the long 'tower' of hair. He came out to watch the support act. He stood infront of my then girlfriend. She tapped him on the shoulder and asked him to step aside. He was very appologetic and chatted for quite a while. My girlfriend was quite impressed, especially as I had dragged her along and she was/is not a fan.

Francis Dunnery many times, a top bloke and IMHO, the most under-rated guitarist ever, Stephen Duffy, Gary Numan many times, Pete Trewavas/Ian Mosely from Marillion. Nice guys all.
