Go Back to CD?

I disagree 100% A transport won't have a sonic signature because it produces zeros and ones. If anyone can prove they can hear a difference between transports in a blind listening test and always choose the correct device, then I'm willing to change my opinion.
In your evidently extensive side by side tests of CD transports, in how many cases was the master clock on the transport and in how many cases on the DAC?

Asking for a friend.

I'm seeing more decoder clock boxes from reputable brands.
I am intrigued as with anything new 😊
It would be interesting to have independent tests.
This Denafrips model has a usb DAC input, so in theory, if the cd player or cd transport has the right connectivity, you can switch clock control to the Denafrips.
Still, the cost of the unit is a little steep.

So we shouldn't care about measurements and facts and objectivity, just accept that people think it sounds better because it's expensive? If it can't sound better, then it doesn't, regardless of how someone perceives it to sound. We can all come out with that nonsense. 'I think vinyl sounds better than CD, because I'm stuck in the 60s' etc.
I’m happy that consumers can choose. They can read ASR and choose objectively. They can ask here or at a Hifi dealer. They can let styling and price tag be their guide. Perception is in the eyes, ears and brain of each individual.
(And I said nothing about 1960’s records.)

They can choose a Breitling or a Casio - both tell the same time!

Oh come come you are swimming in the shallow end. https://hifonix.co.uk/detail/dcs-ro...tXVC9I9KN6oIB1RbGcx9ynzRpeSmjt1MaAtqiEALw_wcB

I need a glass of water.🔥🔥🔥
Cough cough nine fuh fuh king grand cough!! 😂😂
Well I think there's something going on here. The Clock is genuinely A Thing that does impact sound quality.

So the unbundling of read (transport) and translate (DAC) opens up another profit opportunity- the clock.

I predict more clock boxes coming up. Upgradeitis will have another shelf to look at.

Not for me obvs. My forum moniker says it all...

I'm guessing that a Breitling is a costly mechanical watch.
Unless it's radio controlled, I wouldn't mind betting that my (£9.99) Casio shows the time more accurately 😊
Your ten quid Casio will be a better timekeeper than any Rolex or similar type of watch. This is the bling and status symbol mindset within society. Expensive watches are jewelry, much like expensive HIFI. Massive lumps of aluminium and the actual useful circuitry could be held in your hand. It's this brainwashing that annoys me. People banging on about really expensive HIFI, saying it must sound better because it's expensive and took hours of machining to produce it. It's nonsense and this obsession with overpriced HIFI products really is incredible. The DCS master clock mentioned above is a perfect example. It's £10k so it must be a better product than a much cheaper one? Again, let's have blind listening tests and evidence of real world improvements. I very much doubt a few nanseconds of jitter and circuit timings make that much of a difference and can humans really hear a difference? It's bling and nonsense and sadly people fall for it.

Very true, sometimes you need to draw line in the sand, and accept what you have is good enough 👍

We hear from the nay sayers, it just zeros and ones, opposing conversations tend to have predictable outcomes as with cables.
With these new clock boxes, I'm curious how this is going to map out?

All clocks tell the time, crystalline clocks make no difference? 😊
