Every now and then I stumble across a real musical gem and this album is one of them, it is what I would describe as modern ambient electro folk music and it is a very heady combination indeed !

The first short track called 'Intro' is the most electronic but it gets progressively more folky / acoustic from there on, I just can't stop listening to it.

The recording quality is absolutely superb on this particular album of his.

Sam Brookes - Kairos .

This thread has really opened my eyes to some wonderful music that I wouldn't have otherwise discovered. Whilst I have listened to most of the recommendations I have really been taken by a few like Abigail Lapell and Kristina Train - wonderful.

If there are any more similar to those two I'd be really keen to discover them

Thanks to all who regularly contribute.

Hey it's great that you're enjoying the thread, I'll do my best to find some similar artists for you.

Take a look at my blog, there's hundreds of albums listed there.

Three already well regarded folk musicians.Kris Drever,Aidan O'Rourke and Martin Green come together and make this what could quite well be a form of progressive folk.lol.....I really love the live set but lightweights &Gentleman is also very good . I'm pretty sure Mac will already be aware of Lau though. https://open.spotify.com/album/0gCy6Xo0ege6dhJwWYJZMd?si=4DG93_xyRdmFFXSPjz7vTQ

Yes Mac..I did have a listen to Martin Green's flit....still to get all the way through...but the jury is still out to whether I'm a fan of Aidan Moffat...who is on the first track...and it's a bit different...but I like that....I try to get listening to everything that gets a mention but it's very difficult...when I work around 45 hrs a week.lol....Also,I'm very much amazed by the amount of Scottish artists that are around in the folk scene...I never would have realised this without the folk thread starting....it's been a revelation to me.thanks all for the input, and keep em coming.

No, I'm not too keen on the first track either.

The Folk and acoustic scene is abundant with Scottish artists, and long may it continue... the Welsh Folk and acoustic scene is a growing one too with artists such as 9Bach and The Gentle Good who've brought some superb albums

this Lanterns on the lake album,(beings)is one I've adored for the past couple of years....not folk..more indie but this version has been recorded live with the royal northern sinfonia Orchestra...which in my view gives it acoustic rights.lol.https://open.spotify.com/album/5xWMNzIia45tD8ssbFz3kz?si=nsz6VIPuTZGrgFpZ54e9sw

Mac,

'Susanna' is in fact Susanna Wallumrod better known for and as Susanna and the Magical Orchestra .

She has a lovely and unusual voice.

I love her cover of 'Love will tear us apart'.

Susanna is performing live in London on September 27th , I hope to be there . *biggrin*
