hiya,

Im new to all this...but have an extremely strong interest in just about all genres of music. Looking to buy a budget system and have narrowed down my options to Cambridge Audio or NAD.

So im thinking along the lines of...

Amps:

Cambridge Audio AZUR 340SE

NAD C315BEE

NAD C325BEE

Cd players:

Cambridge AZUR 340C OR 540 C

NAD C515BEE

NAD C525BEE

And for the speakers I have barely any idea, although I have been advised Mordaunt Short 920i's or B &W's

any help or advice would be absolutly fantastic

Cheers

With this budget and the fact that you're buying all the components, it makes sense to seek out a package deal from one of the retailers who specialise in such things, like Richer Sounds or Superfi. Richer had both a Cambridge 340-based and a NAD-based system advertised recently, both with basically free speakers, but neither are listed their website now. At the budget end of their 'sizzling separates' packages, Superfi have this, which looks like a bargain to me. And you'd be able to audition it proeprly as well, which most Richers can't do any more, sadly.

Agreed, the 550 quid Richer Sounds deal is very good, but I thought it was a little bit over budget. If you have 550 quid, that's the option I'd go for - my 640c is fabulous.

That being said, either of those NAD deals is good value - I personally would go for the Tannoy one because a) you save more money and b) my experience of Tannoys is very positive. YMMV, and may be swayed by whichever of the three dealers mentioned so far is nearest.
