I bought a Finlux TV (55FME242S-T) a couple of months ago, but tonight I tried to connect a PVR for the first time via HDMI.

The picture was fine but no sound....After 2 hours of menu surfing, forum searching and instruction manual reading and much 'gnashing of teeth' I contacted Finlux directly through there 'live webchat'.

I was informed by 'Kasey' that HDMI connections on Finlux TV's can only receive video, but NOT audio!!

Has anyone else heard of this? As their 'webchat' is the only way of contacting them (no phone or address), I can't confirm it.

If it's true i'm utterly astounded..

Thanks in advance

As a workaround, are there any stereo inputs on the TV and your per? If so, then you can run a pair of stereo cables from your over to the TV to get the sound. This is what I did on my old grundig LCD TV ...

Thanks for the input Series1boy....got me thinking. 🙂

Instead of stereo cables, i've used an old optical cable and run it to my soundbar (Just means i've got to have soundbar on just to watch TV through PVR). Or follow your advice.

Still blooming pee'd off with Finlux though...

Maybe they intended the TV more as a monitor rather than a full TV.

I no not everyone has a surround sound system but TV sound is so poor having to cope with all that audio. I can't stand having to watch anyones TV without an external sound system with all the dipping of sounds when the audio gets remotly busy.

You have a sound bar surely that's why you bought one, so you didn't have to listen to rubbish TV speakers?

I bought a Finlux tv last year, not been using it for my laptop but thought would watch a stream through the TV, spent ages trying to work out why my laptop wasn't sending audio and it turns out it was the TV.

HDMI sound works fine through an older, cheaper TV I have in the kitchen. Was told the same thing by Finlux, unbelieveable
