Film 4 Dolby Digital, with sony str-dg820

Hi,

Is there anyone who could tell me if they are recieving a dolby digital sound from the film family stone that is playing on film4 at the moment apparently it is supposed to be dolby digital but am only getting two channels through the optical cable to the amp, I have the sony str-dg820 and it doesnt seem to decode through the optical cable? its fine with bluray films via hdmi but with sky I just get linear pcm 48 hz display in two channel,

I have the same amp and have the same result with film 4. All the sky movie channels are received in Dolby Digital but film 4 is received in PCM 48. This is through an optical cable as is yours.

Thanks for getting back to me, I dont currently subscribe to the film channels so I thought the amp had a problem, but as you have the same result for film4 but get dolby digital through sky movies the amp must be set up and working correctly. im having sky hd fitted tomorrow so may upgrade to the film channels too.

I cant see film 4 on my HD sky menu. Call me stupid but thats the only way I thought you can receive DD.

Film4 the channel its number 315 on my sky, it had a film on which said it was DD but I wasnt getting DD, the film is on film4+1 now and its channel 316 if you push the information button on the sky remote it has the abreviation DD which I thought meant it was Dolby Digital but No 5.1 is being recieved?

See what you mean but because the film isn't being shown on a HD channel that's why you are not getting DD. I'm no expert but I'm preety sure that's the problem.

Film 4 you will not get DD 5.1. However as said if its on Channel 4 HD it does broadcast DD 5.1
