There is a well documenteted history of power supply capacitors failing in SKY HD boxes and SKY + boxes made by Thomson.

Repair kits are available on the internet and can be fitted if you are handy with a soldering iron.

I have mine installed about a month ago and so far so good. My SKY HD box is manufactured by PACE. I think THOMSON are the ones that are becoming faulty.

Having just orderd sky+HD, after reading this forum im a little bit concerned of the number of sky boxes people are having to replace due to faults. Is this a wide spread thing or just a hand full of people expericing these faults? Are they still installing the thomson boxes as well as the pace ones at the mo or is there nothing to worry about to much!? Forgetting about the faults is it still worth getting!? chears

Gary - Sky HD is fantastic and well worth the money so relax! I think I read somewhere that Sky HD have close to 500,000 HD subscribers and whilst problems are annoying they can be fixed pretty quickly. I've had my box for a few months and no major problems, occasionally the box will freeze or the sound will cut out for a split second... Nothing serious to worry about though.

You must be excited getting it soon, especially with the new HD film channels added. Please tell me you have got the HD film mix?? Well worth the money if you haven't already ; )
