....you get a tingly moment. No, not one of those tingly moments (!), but one of those occasions when you're listening to the stereo, you've got the setup, er, set up, to a tee and you pop on a CD. And then it hits you. That moment where the presentation, the recording, the gear all combine and mkae you sit back and take notice. Just had one of those just now - Genesis, Seconds Out, Virgin fatbox 2CD set, the track's The Cinema Show, pure, effortless musical bliss. The hifi's gone, the band's in the room. We are happy. :)

I have not had a tingly moment with a cd but some of Radio 3's more esoteric late night offerings have brought the MA RX1s to life. I felt I could reach out and touch the sound (not really music) at times through my humble Marantz PM6004 and Denon TU260L. The CDs just don't seem to leap out in the same way. I wish they would.

Yes!

Sat now with a beer in very low light, fire going at other end of room, listening to Amon Dull ii - it's a bit tingly...

Spotify via iPad mini into AEX, optical out into Sony DB930, powering pair of Mission 752, lovely!!!

Picked up the Sony recently for £40, after some talk by Drummerman sparked my interest. It's really quite good, stupidly good for the money you can pick them up for. Kinda spanks my Onkyo TX8050, and not far off my MF A1001. Digital inputs, bags of power. Managed to put together the full set of Mission for 5.1 for peanuts too - fronts 752, rears 751 and centre 75c. Using a BK sub, but on the look out for a cheap Mission 75as sub. Rare.

Anyway, slightly off topic, but all makes me a bit tingly at various times.

Bonnie Tyler fan?

Crackerjack pencil to the man that's very on the ball for a Friday evening.

I'm so excited I never win a thing, talking of crackerjack pencils I remember when I was much much younger being on hols in Torquay and my Aunty saw who she thought was Leslie Crowther in a fishing tackle shop if my memory serves me correctly, she went in to said shop right up to him, looked him in the face said nothing to him, came back out and said 'yes it is him!' The rest of the family died of embrassment!

A friend of mine did that thing on Crackerjack where you had to hold stuff until you had three cabbages. Does that sound right? Anyway, he was in his Cub Scout uniform and has the whole thing on VHS.

He won an alarm clock.

We spilled booze on it and broke it.

The shame.

Bonnie Tyler and Meatloaf, jim Steinman has a lot to answer for......... :rockout: :shame:

My name is CnoEvil, and I can't help it.

Have you considered medication? Failing that Joy Division in a darkened room.

Strangely while jim Steinman is clearly a very capable (talented?) musician and producer most of his work leaves me feeling slightly nausious, just like Simon Cowell (but with added music, of a sort).

A handful of supposedly 'good' bands leave me feeling the same way, appropriately enough Genesis tops that particular list...... :silenced:

My WS100's provide constant moments .

So does my setup - but I sometimes peak! One thing that's continues to genuinely mystify me is why anyone would want a system that sounds like a band, group, choir, filmset or orchestra is in their livingroom, why, why, why? I want a system that transports me to a beach, club, concert hall, open space, cave, castle or cubicle as appropriate!

That was always an incredibly well recorded Album.

'Firth of Fith' - my personal favourite track on there....

....... Gonna have to dig it out for another listen. :bounce:

Yes, great album, and one of my favorite live recordings full stop. Not a duff track on it either. The instrumental part of The Cinema Show is excellent as well.

Semantics. I like a presentation that is detailed and reflects as well as my setup can the the atmosphere of the original recording. That presentation to me includes leaving the system behind, so the music sits 'outside' of the speaker. It's a ropy explanation but maybe goes someway to explaining my perception!
