Following the discussion from here :

I'll probably want to go again with Epos :? :quest: . But I can't find very much comparisons Epic 2 vs Elan 15 . I am interessed in these because having a much larger cabinet and woofer than my Epos M5 they both should give a much better bottom end rendering in my smallish room (3x4,5 m) .I am interessed also in comparisons with the M12 from this point of view and not only , because I don't know if these new series keep the sound of M5 and M12 . In Stereophile review on Epic2 they say it's less detailed than the M5 (even if "a bit" , I wouldn't like to lose detail). Epic 2 has a very good price now ,but how do you see it compared to the others? On the other side Elan 15 justifies the price wich is 40-50% bigger now than Epic 2?

Thank you , very interesting yet a bit confusing info in the end ,in that link ( very important the source of music ,the digital and especially compressed formats can be revealed in their weak points by the resolving systems - my opinion about that story).

Still waiting some news about the Elan 15 :)

You will really have to listen to a pair of Elan 15s if at all possible. I've only ever briefly heard a pair of the smaller Elan 10s driven by a Rega Brio whilst in a dealers having a new cart fitted to my TT, and they were very impressive for a small speaker. Looked gorgeous in the Rosewood finish too.

I have a pair of Epic 2. They're simply fantastic. I've just replaced Creek Evolution 50A with brand new Yamaha R-N500 and it sounds great, i listen to a lot of heavy music and i am over the moon with this set up. With Creek my music sounded a bit thin and lifeless, now it just sounds right, terrific upper midrange, bass and highs. And those not of this earth guitar solos (Allegaeon, Anterior), they really kick ass. :rockout:

Summing the reviews and opinions found on various sites and forums , seems to me that the Epic line keeps generally speaking the level of M series , adding some more weight in sound and thus ,being more balanced speakers and the Elan goes beyound the M in all ,detail included. This answers for me the question why they introduced two lines Epic and Elan in a short interval when stopping the M line .

The question that I have now to decide if I'll go to Epic 2 and gain more bass or go up to Elan and buy more resolution AND bass extension . The logic answer is Elan 15, but there is a price for that.... :) There is a compromise between Epic 2 and Elan 15 ,this is called Elan 10 at mid price .... I'll have to listen these .....not shure about how much bass over M5

DIB, what do you think ?

Im not sure if your still in the market for standmounters but I thought i should give you some feedback regarding the speakers you have asked about. I have had a pair of Epos M5i and Epos Epic 2 and I now own Epos Elan 15. The Epos M5i definitely has a little more mid range detail than the epic 2. Although as you would imagine the epic 2 having a larger cabinet gives a larger sound. The intergration of the fabric dome tweeter and the ever so slight warm sound of the epic 2 makes it very easy speaker to get along with. However if you crave mid range clarity I would definitely reccomend the Elan 10 or 15. I have the latter and it even trumps the m5i on detail. It blends the frequencies better than any other speaker i have heard and that includes the Kef LS50. Anyway hope that helps but I think its is so important to demo the speakers with your amplifier as mathcing these two components makes all the difference. BTW I tested the speakers on Creek Destiny 2 with Audiolab MDAC.
