Here are some pictures of my soon to be new speakers. Hoping to have them completed by end of March, if all goes well

We like to see these diy projects. Interested to know all the details. I have made several sets some years back and found the job very satisfying. Are all the photos your own?
Well done.

Thank you for all kind words

All photos are taken as I go along - and will update next weekend to (hopefully) show progress.

And will write a full review as soon as they are up and running and have had time to break in

With double ScanSpeak drivers, they should deliver enough bottom end for both me and most of the neighbours >)

The oak fronts against the white of the cabinet. Not sure I like the oak...

Lovely work, big fan of Troels designs! I would love to have an ounce of the speaker design and manufacture that he has!

Was there any particular reason you chose that design over his others? I would find it difficult to choose!

Chose the design based on speaker size and the fact that I wanted something with a bit of low end punch

One cabinet done - fronts now black

One done - one to go. It sounds very good even without any time to break in - and it is partnered with one of the Eekels Minis (see separate showcase for these)

im waiting for troels to do a 2 way design using accuton drivers to have a go myself!

Thank you!

I recommend his designs - they sound wonderful to my ears.

I am already looking at TJL 2W with ribbon tweeter as my next project :)

All done! Now breaking them in - first observations are that the tweeter is very good, but directonal i.e. there is a small sweet spot for listener. But this might change as they continue to break in.

Still not in their place, but will do the moving and shifting coming weekend - also getting them hooked up to the stream XP and Mono X amplifiers for some decent source components :)

The Ellam 25s are now set up as they should at the end of the StreamXP and Mono Xs. They are breaking in nicely, and I enjoy them more every time I listen to music

They are different to the Eekels they are replacing by having a lot more punch at the bottom end, but still similar in signauture. I find the tweeter here to be more directional than the Seas in the Eekels. So sweet spot for listener is smaller. But these are perfect for the type of music I usually listen to - the latest CD from Depeche Mode is just impressive via these and they make latest Stone Sour sound excellent!! They don't seem too picky about recording quality. It really brings a smile to my face... The downside to these speakers - and it might be that they still needs more breaking in - is that I think female voices and pianos sounds slightly better via Eekels. These also have that little lack of sparkle when I first start listening, just like the Eekels. But they grow on me every time, and there is no listening fatigue even after hours of listening to all sorts of music.

Very happy indeed now. But will probably build another pair in a couple of years, just for the fun of it...
