Will play around with cables going forward - have Chord Rumour inside the speakers and will try this all the way to the amps

But have to say that the slight difference to my old Eekels is not really a problem. The Eekels are superb for female vocals and pianos.

I believe Chord Rumour is silver plated, so I would experiment with pure copper cables like those from Atlas (or Chord do some as well).

It is a litte over 4 years since, Troels and i made the design, and it is still a very nice speaker.

i would recomend changing the series coil in the lower bass sektion, with a low Ohm 1,5 mH coil. ~0,1 Ohm

This will lower the range 700-1000 Hz by 1 - 1,5 dB, and at the same time, give you a little moore kick in the lower bas.

Not a bad choice. Not bad at all.

And maybe changing the series resistor in the tweeter filter, with a 2,2 Ohm. It gives a littel more headroom, without being to foreward - in my listening room anyway.

I have to say these speakers are still mind blowingly great!

I played around with the crossovers, but moved back to default design with 2.7 ohm for tweeter. Suited my room best

Just want to redo the paint job

How did you get Troels to design the speakers? Or did you build the speakers and asked him for crossover only?

I would try the series coil change - especially if you have a light dampen room.

This speaker has a great potentiale, and its all about getting the crossover right.

At this time, my speakers is installet with a SB acoustic 29 rdc tweeter and a very different crossover. This is not bad at all.

I put both speakers in the trunk of my car, and drowe cross the country to Troels home, where the crossover was designet.

Troels can't help you with crossover construction, if you can't get them to his home. He's got to have the speakers in his basement, where he vil messure the frequence response, and construct the crossover.

Thank you for the information. I have a pair of Eekels' Mini where I have drawn up a "Bass Extender/Subwoofer". I have wanted to build these and get Troels to make a crossover for them. This would change them to a three way construction with a separate housing for mid and tweeter.

Did you design and build the new crossover yourself for new tweeter?

And is it a Jantzen coil you are using? What number is it? I have no way of measuring at the moment, so need input on change

The coil is a Jantzen coli number 5430, AWG 14, 1,5 mH, 0,1 Ohm.

No, i didn't make the new crossover with the SB tweeter myself. I unfortunately haven't got any messuring equipment, and not much experience in this, but "he" does.

Vi have more than one, very talentet speakerbuilder in this littel country

If you get the coil, let me know what you think about the sound. Just before i switched to the new tweeter/crossover, i used the number 5430 coil, and a 1.8 Ohm resistor in the tweeter sektion. I think this was "right on" in my living room.
